BLESSINGS FOR YOU

As I prayed to God for you today,
To guide you and protect you,
As you go along your way,
His love is always with you,
His promises are true,
And when we give Him all our cares,
You know He will see us through,
So when the road you're traveling on,
Seems difficult at best,
Just remember I'm here praying,
And God will do the rest!

FRIEND

A friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift,

A friend is someone to treasure, for friendship is a gift,

A friend is someone who fills our lives with Beauty, Joy & Grace,

And makes the world we live in, a better and happier place.

MY LIL BABY PINK!

This poem is dedicated to my li'l niece Zoey!
Ssssh! She's here.....

How we've waited and we're so glad you've come,
A beautiful lil baby, so cuddle-some,
Our eyes are misty, faces all smiles,
Want to look at your innocent face all the while,
Those tiny little hands and those tiny little feet, Wrapped up in that bundle you look so sweet,
We are already looking forward to those fun-filled days, When you will make us happy in so many ways,
Dear lil darling, you're going to stand out in a crowd, And always make you dada and mamma proud,
So saddle up, lil conqueror of hearts....
It's time to give life a KICKSTART!!

HOLDING ONTO LOVE

Every time we fight I am in pain,

Every time we argue there is nothing to gain,

If I live my life without you I know I'll go insane,

So please forgive me and save me from spending my life in vain.

CHEER UP

Think of someone who makes you smile,

Dwell on that thought for a little while,

Then however bad your day might be,

It's only love your heart will see!

SHAKESPERE DEEPLY IN LOVE!!

O! beautiful maiden, how do I describe thee in words so few?
For oft I think of thee and ponder,
Those words that hath been chosen for thee,
Fall so short of your splendour,

If I could only be the dust that touches thy feet,
I would be thine part in a manner so discreet,
Thine face that shines a radiant bright,
Makes my heart flutter as upon thee I set my sight,

Those luscious lips, they speak ever so silently whereupon sits thy smile,
Makes me want to be part of thy haven for erewhile,
Thine eyes so pretty, always lost in a distant dream,
O! how they look lovely even when thou art mean,

Thy body so slender, soft like cream,
Hiding within a heart so clean,
Such that its purity defies white,
Thine soul shines luminous through day and night,

Let me be thine answer when love it is thou seek,
Love hast the power to make the mightiest meek,
For no longer can I my destiny delude,
Thou art my saviour, my joy's prelude!

SHAKESPERE IN LOVE??

This is where my heart resides,

In thy possession, keep it by,

I ask of Thee, Oh! Pretty Thee,

To accept my Love and I.

THE TRUTH BE TOLD

The light has vanished from its core,
Leaving the sordid heart so sore,
None that can smell the stench,
That comes from its rotting,
The silent voices cry within,
But they fall upon deaf ears,
The sheer indignation of a putrid soul,
Sometimes wily are nature's ways,
She decides who goes who stays,
We are but mere pawns in the play,
Hail the hero that embraces all the lies, Shame to the soul that shatters its disguise.

A LONELY NIGHT!

24 hours ago in the moonlit night,
I came to your door,
Was happy to have you beside me,
Never to have missed that kiss,
It was new years eve,
There were firecrackers making noise,
But our conversation drowned the din,
All I could hear was our heartbeats within,
You held my gaze and I held yours,
We exchanged sweet nothings without a pause,
And then I asked you to come home to me,
The answer was we are never meant to be,
Dejected and disappointed I drove away,
I entered an empty house,
It's silence disturbed me,
So I went along to keep the stars and the moon some company,
I diddled around for a bit,
It was getting too tired to sit,
Therefore I headed back and went to sleep,
Never thought I'd be so lonely on New Year's eve!

WHAT IS LOVE?

Love is a blooming flower in the garden of the heart,
Spreading its sweet fragrance to your every part,

Love is the warmth that no sunshine could bring,
Letting your mind dream, making your heart sing,

Love it is the dance of the soul,
Setting you free while making you feel whole,

Love is the eternity that stretches beyond time,
Filling me with hope that someday you will be mine!

WHY???

Are we prisoners of this life?
Is there no hope left in our strife?
Why does everything seem so bleak?
Where is the happiness that the soul might seek?
When will we see that eternal light?
What is there left, to be alright?
How do we live and how do we die?
It brings me back to questions, why?

DYING....

I see it coming now,
From a far distant gaze,
Hopes all crashing down,
Left in nothing but a daze,
I look all around me,
I see people going by,
I'm sitting alone I wonder why?
I guess now, no more I have to pretend,
For I see it approaching, the beginning of my end!!!

THE PANGS OF DESPAIR

Life is a burden that I carry, It grows heavier with each passing day,
Becomes deeper as I stride along the way,
The way that leads to nowhere,
There will be a day when I get there,
There, where I am alone,
As I’m destined to be,
There’s nobody, just my tears and me,
No fear I will know,
No feelings in tow,
As I go deeper and deeper into the dark,
My journey, it has no end,
With life’s burden I have to bend,
Bend lower and lower till I pray,
Let this journey end in my grave!!

ODE TO MY ALMA MATER

It seems so distant, but in my mind I am already there,
Reminiscing those moments, so precious, so rare,
T'was the time we had crisp uniforms and a smirk to wear,
Those were the days when we were under our teachers' care,
The camaraderie, the laughter, the mischief and the stare,
Of strict teachers should a prank we dare,
Our teachers they taught us to learn and to share,
And told us that life wouldn't always be fair,
So we had to be open, had always to prepare,
And today we have a witness to bear,
We are ever so thankful to our Alma Mater!

HEALING

Of wounds and tears,
Of pain and fears,
We live a life of circumstance,

With a heap of love,
With a leap of faith,
We ought to give life a chance!

GOODBYE DADDY DEAREST

A last hug,
A tearful tug,
And there he lay, his face so smug,

His beard was gray,
His body so fray,
And yet he was strong till his dying day!

A pyre was lit,
My heart wept a lil bit,
My daddy was gone, tried hard to accept it,

Each and every day,
I prayed in every way,
I wished daddy was here to stay,

Then one day, as his pillow I kissed,
Thought if I could tell him just how much he was missed,
I remembered all that he would say and all that he had wished,

So the next day, I bid him goodbye,
Held back my tears and tried not to cry,
And promised I would aim to be, all that he wanted, before I die!

THE LAST FAREWELL

Time moved on,
Years flitted by,
And I realize now, it's so hard to say goodbye,

Feel weak in the knees,
But, emotions are strong,
I know that once life starts, we must go on,

Leaving behind bittersweet memories,
Of the people I know and times spent here,
We were like a family, so close and dear!

Alas! the time has come,
When I must tread along,
The path I've waited for, so long,

But, fret not, the world is round,
For my journey here, from where we began,
I thank you all to say, Farewell all, until we meet again!

THINGS I'LL DO FOR YOU

As we walk through the doors of time,
With my hand in yours and your hand in mine,

I promise to cherish each moment that we spend,
To hold you, to love you until the end!

I pledge to honor your every desire,
Even if it means that I have to burn through fire,

I will always pay heed to whatever you feel,
To keep you smiling I will beg, I will steal,

I will strive to keep your tears at bay,
Lest they flow, I'll know what to say,

I will be faithful, I would never sin,
In all our arguments I will let you win,

If you're sick, I will never leave your side,
By all your moody tantrums I will abide,

I will stand by you in all that you believe,
When you are tired I will be there to relieve,

I will protect you but your freedom I will respect,
There is nothing from you that I shall expect,

Only hope that, while we look back through those doors of time,
My hand will still be in yours and yours in mine!

To bee or not to bee friend!

My muse for this evening was a big bright insect that seemed to be a bumblebee, not quite sure but let’s call it that. I was at my computer desk next to my window when I casually glanced outside and there it was, on the mosquito net, a huge bumblebee. At first, I was alarmed since the window was open but then I noticed that the poor little critter was only trying to find a way out, although in vain, since my window is sealed from outside with the mosquito net. I thought to myself, this is not a petty house fly that I could easily shoo away with a newspaper and besides I dreaded the painful sting that might ensue, especially if our little Bugsy turned into an angry “Big Bee” (pun intended!) and seek revenge. Therefore, I finally decided against being brave and refrained from trying any stunts (it's better to be safe than sorry), and cautiously slid the window shut. Phew! Then from my haven, I began observing its movement across the mosquito net, it was then I realized this was one beautiful creature. It had an ebony black body with a bright yellow stripe across the middle and golden yellow wings. I had never seen a bumblebee at such close quarters; well actually I have never seen a bumblebee. So pop came out the camera and I excitedly tried to get a good shot of it. But our little friend was in no mood to oblige and was constantly moving about. Much to my dismay, all my pictures were out of focus. I did manage to get a few good ones as it stalled at some places. I wished it would stay put and let me peacefully capture it on camera.

This casual encounter soon turned into an obsession for me. For about an hour, I was at my window, frantically trying to capture this beautiful bug on camera and the latter busy wandering around to find that little nook to freedom. Any onlookers from outside my window must be thinking – “Someone is taking pictures of their mosquito net or mosquitoes! Must be crazy for sure”! After more than an hour had passed, I had a feeling this bug is not going to quit. I actually felt sorry for it as there was really no way out. I earnestly believe in the “Live and let live” philosophy, thus, I started to figure out ways to help our little fellow. I noticed it was mostly crawling over the net but at times also flew around, so I slid the window open, hoping it would fly indoors and find its way into the adjoining room where there was no mosquito net on the window. I even tried to telepathically tell our friend “I am going to help you escape, just don’t make that “beeline” for me”! All this to no avail, it just refused to come indoors, which made me think, this one was either afraid of the enormous navy blue blob inside that was me (Can’t really say who’s afraid of who!) or was too dumb to notice that the window has been opened.

Not knowing what to do, I consulted the almighty Google which directed me to videos on “How to catch bees in a garden”. Well if a few potted plants outside your window constitute a garden then, yes show me how. Most videos were about how to catch a bee when it settles on a flower. I sort of have a vegetable garden, so I guessed that was the reason our friend was avoiding the plants. So no, the videos didn’t help. They say necessity is the mother of invention, well I say emergency is the mother of action. I had to do something quick, the poor critter was tiring out, and I couldn’t waste time finding reliable solutions on the internet. I promptly recollected some of the stuff I read on Google about catching bees and visualized the many possible solutions like putting a basket/glass/bottle/ over it or dropping a T-shirt over it (my very own novel idea) and then frantically running towards the open window and letting it go. In the end, I decided none of these methods were foolproof; one of us would definitely be harmed in the process. However, by then my fear had almost vanished and I had been watching our friend boldly with the window wide open. While I was wondering how I could safely take it out, I remembered I had those take away plastic containers, but the question was how to get the bee in it. I found a large plastic container and left it near the pots in my pseudo garden for it to climb in but our snooty little friend just crawled past it like it didn't exist. This was not a ‘Humble bee’; either that or it is in fact a ‘Dumblebee’ as I was tempted to call it.

Then it suddenly struck me that honey might be the perfect temptation, although I wasn't sure whether bees ate their honey. Still no harm in experimenting I thought, so, I added a spoon of honey in the plastic container and kept it near the pots again. This time, to my delight, our dear bumblebee finally sighted the hitherto ‘invisible’ container and reached out for the honey. No sooner had it entered the container than I slammed the lid into place and ran with it to the adjoining room that had the open window, holding the container lid tightly at the rim, speculating whether bees could sting through plastic. I left the container at the window sill and slowly removed the lid. I was almost going to run for cover, fearing that it would probably exact vengeance for my ‘trick and trap’ feat, when I saw our bumblebee was nearly motionless. Horrified that I had probably suffocated it to death, I peered into the container. And lo behold, our little critter was blissfully relishing the honey there. I watched in fascination as its little posterior was bobbing up and down while it sucked at its food. I couldn’t resist taking a video of it. And I was finally rewarded with some close-ups too. When our dear friend was satiated, it started crawling out of the container, stumbling a little, (guess it was ‘madh-hosh’) and then flew away ecstatically into the open air!! With that I smiled to myself, for I had possibly bee-friended a bumblebee!!
